We are the Phoenix Children's East Valley Board and our mission is to advocate, fundraise and raise awareness for the impact of Phoenix Children’s Hospital in our local East Valley communities. As part of this mission we are fundraising to help Phoenix Children's acquire a C-ARM imaging device for the new Mercy Gilbert Women and Children's Pavillion. Helping Phoenix Children's purchase this new equipment is necessary to continue to make a difference in the life of sick and injured children in our community.
- What is the purpose of the equipment? C-arm is a medical imaging device that is based on X-ray technology. The name is derived from the C-shaped arm used to connect the X-ray source and X-ray detector to one another.
- How is it used? Fluoroscopic intraoperative (X-ray) imaging during surgical, orthopedic and emergency procedeures.
- Why is it beneficial to Phoenix Children's? One of the greatest advantages of mobile C-arms is the ability to move around the patient, achieving the optimum angle for a high-quality image while keeping the patient stationary.
- General Overview: C-arms are the surgeon's eyes while performing cases in Surgery.
Phoenix Children's is one of only a handful of children's hospitals recognized in 10 out of 10 categories for clinical excellence by U.S. News and World Reports Best Children's Hospital.
