Hello, my name is Jacob Shorr. I am going to be a Bar Mitzvah on May 6, 2023. As a part of the Bar Mitzvah process, I am honored to manage a Mitzvah project that means so much to me! A mitzvah is a good deed and a selfless act. So a Mitzvah Project is just an extra special good deed.
Before you click off this link thinking that I am just some teenager who is only doing this because I have to, you are wrong!
The main reason I am doing this is because one of my best friends is a patient at Pheonix Children’s Hospital. About 2 years ago, Jacksen (my friend) got diagnosed with Leukemia. I was very scared and didn’t know what to think. I thought I was going to lose my best friend, but Jacksen’s fight and Phoenix Children’s Hospital kept him from losing his life to Cancer. Today…Jacksen is Cancer FREE!!!!
I am 12 years old (almost 13) and I love to get out and do things with my friends. I could not hang out with Jacksen while he was getting chemotherapy and that sucked. Every time "I’m bored" I just hop on my bike and go to Jacksen's house. We just chill or we play video games. I never call or text, I just show up. Yes, I'm that type of friend. To Jacksen's family, I’m like the third child they always wanted . When Jacksen began to lose his hair, I shaved my head to support him in his recovery.
As my Mitzvah Project, I am trying to raise money for more advanced technology at Phoenix Children’s Hospital so the kids getting chemo have the latest technology to entertain themselves. Jacksen says getting chemo is a long and boring process and the technology at Phoenix Children’s Hospital needs updating. I am raising money for fun technology because I love everything about the tech world. We are going to use the money we raise to get new Ps5’s, Xbox's, and iPads so all the kids getting chemo have something to take their mind off of what’s going on and can escape into the Matrix.
My goal is to raise as much money as possible and to top it off, my mom and dad are going to match every donation dollar for dollar...up to $ 10,000.00
Thank you very much and give until it hurts!!!
